Young Scientists Explore University with Scientia Residential

Students at the Scientia residential

In early September sixth form students with a passion for engineering, science and mathematics arrived at Oxford Brookes for a two day taster of life at university.

Whilst staying for the Scientia residential students were given the opportunity to try out University lectures and social events as well as develop their knowledge of the real life applications of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Also included in the stay were opportunities for hands-on workshops in Crash Test Dummies, a Master class in product innovation, Creating Video Game Art, Dazzling with Digits and Security Challenge.

The residential is designed to help budding scientists unlock their true potential and raise aspirations of coming to University along with developing key life skills in communication and team work. Scientia, coming from the Latin word for knowledge, aims to encourage young scientists not only to raise their career aspirations but also to facilitate an environment where they might become creative problem solvers with thinking rather than memorising minds.
