Formula 1 veteran to write blog on MEMS website

Brian Sims, former racer and Formula 1 Marketing Director, has launched a blog called ‘inside line’ on the MEMS web page. His blog aims to document his past and current experiences within the motorsport industry, and is a must-read for anyone studying engineering, hoping for a career in motorsport, or just interested in motor racing in general.

Once a professional racing driver, Brian became Marketing Director of the Benetton and Lola Ferrari Formula 1 teams, as well as Manager of the Kyalami F1 Grand Prix Circuit in South Africa. He was responsible for securing multi-million pound sponsorship with companies such as FedEx, Gillette and Marconi. In 1994 he established the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA), the British motorsport industry's first and most powerful business organisation.

More recently, Brian has become a sponsorship sales trainer and is a regular Guest Lecturer for the World Academy of Sport. His books on the subject have received international acclaim over a range of sports.

Brian also serves on two Advisory Boards at Oxford Brookes University and is a Business Consultant with the Research and Business Development Office (RBDO).
