Oxford Brookes Racing Team 2014 Competition Round-Up

Oxford Brookes Racing ended the season on a high in the Czech Republic, winning the top UK team title in the annual Formula Student competition with their new car and finishing sixth overall, their best ever result.

Eight months of hard work culminated in the launch of the Oxford Brookes Racing team’s new car, Carly, at the beginning of June, followed by a rigorous test programme to prepare them for their first competition at Silverstone on the 10-13 July. At Silverstone they achieved strong results overall, performing well in the dynamic events and going on to win the design event, the first UK university to achieve this accolade. After failing to finish the endurance event last year, the team were delighted that this time their car crossed the finish line, winning them the accolade of UK best team, for the second time and coming an impressive sixth place, their highest result to date. The team were also awarded the GKN Award for the lightest ICE entrant.

The team travelled further afield to compete in the Czech Republic on the 7-10 August and did extremely well there too, achieving fifth place in the cost category, third in design and first place in the business event. The team were rewarded for all of their hard work at this event by attending the Sunday evening awards ceremony and collecting their trophy on stage.

For future competitions, Oxford Brookes Racing have set themselves a target of finishing on the podium and winning more trophies. We wish the team continued success for the next season and congratulations on a fantastic 2014.
