Foundation courses

Engineering Foundation courses provide a basis for deciding what to study at degree level and the chance to make choices about your future professional education and career.

Would you like to enter a degree or higher diploma course in engineering or technology but you do not have sufficient grades or appropriate mathematical or scientific A-levels (or equivalents)? A one year Foundation course at Oxford Brookes is the first step toward an honours degree.

Foundation courses at Brookes

A Foundation course is a year-long course based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences on the Wheatley Campus to help you reach the entry requirements needed for degree level study in a particular subject area. We offer the Engineering Foundation course (UCAS code: H108) as an introduction to mathematical and scientific principles, in preparation for university studies in science and engineering.

If you successfully complete the foundation course in Engineering or Technology, you can progress directly onto one of our MEng/BEng and Mathematics (Hons) degree courses, or (under certain circumstances) onto one of our BSc (Hons) degree courses.
