Faculty students awarded in the 2012 Oxford Brookes Business Plan Competition

The winners of this year's Oxford Brookes Business Plan Competition including students from the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment, were presented with their prizes by the Vice Chancellor Professor Janet Beer at an Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 21 March.

For the past two years, the University has held a competition for the best business plans submitted by undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at Oxford Brookes. Sponsored and administered by the Research and Business Development Office (RBDO), the competition is open to all Brookes students, inviting them to submit a business plan for a business idea that they want to start or develop.

The judges particularly looked for the originality of the idea and the vision; analysis of the market and competition; operational, delivery and management plans; and the projected financial performance.

This year's winners were:

    Postgraduate

  • Akina Egawa for 'Oxford Brookes Racing'
  • Runner-up
  • Ting Ting Wang for 'My Lonely Story'
  • Undergraduate

  • Brad Cox for 'Mobile Device Case'
  • Runner-up
  • Amandeep Singh Bansal for 'Car Wash'

The winners were eligible for mentoring to enhance their chances of winning a national competition, with the best plans entered into national business plan competitions such as the Santander Business Plan Competition. Next year's competition will be open for entries from September 2012 until February 2013. More information about the Business Plan Competitions is available at www.brookes.ac.uk/students/businessplan.
